Jigawa State Governor said his son is not laundering money for him

Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido has given a report about his son’s money laundering. Aminu the son of Jigawa state Governor was arrested by the EFCC at the Murtalla Mohammed Airport in Lagos on his way to Cairo. He was arrested for not declaring cash worth $40,000 in his possession.

The Governor spoke on Thursday saying Aminu has a daughter that has a spinal cord issue and she was taken to Cairo last year to be treated. The daughter is said to have gone through the first and second phase of the treatment and had returned about four months ago. At the end of the second phase of the treatment, the hospital told them to return in 3months time for final examination. It was on this third phase of his visit to Cairo that Aminu Lamido was arrested.

The Governor also said the impression the EFCC has been giving about his son embarking on several trips abroad on money laundering on his behalf is mischievous and false.

Aminu has been granted bail.

Mr. Wilson Uwujaren being the spokesman for the EFCC said Aminu was granted bail because the judges were not around in Kano to take his plea due to the judges conference that was held in Abuja. Mr. Wilson also said charges had been prepared and that Aminu will be charged to court later.
