RSIEC Announces Election dates in Rivers State.

Election into political offices for Ogba/Egbema Ndoni local Government Area of Rivers State will hold on march 2^nd 2013.

The chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission  (RSIEC), Professor Augustine Ahiauzu made the announcement while speaking with newsmen in Port Harcourt on Tuesday December 18^th 2012.

Professor Augustine disclosed that re-run election would also take place in Khana ward 17 and Oyigbo Ward 8, saying that there would be no primaries in these two wards because the election was cancelled and that the same persons who participated would be allowed to run. He also added that it would take place on February 23^rd 2013.

He also said there will be Bye-Election in Asari-Toru ward 5, Opobo Nkoro ward 1, Eleme ward 6 and Ahoada-East ward 2, and that the bye elections would hold on February 23, 2013.

The Chief Electoral Commissioner also stated that political parties in Nigeria are eligible to sponsor candidates  in the 2013 Local Government Council Elections, provided that party completes and submit an expression of interest form to participate in the elections on or before January 2013.

Mr. Augustine said also said “ for ONELGA, there would be primaries, we have informed the political parties and they are fully briefed. The election Time table is also out”.
